Jehova's Witnesses have long taught that Christ returned in the late 1800's, and that He has been present on the earth since that day, doing "something".

But Christ's coming will be like a thunderclap which follows the lightning. Every eye will see Him, every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we who are His, who await eagerly for His coming, we shall see Him and be changed in a moment, in a nanosecond, in the twinkling of the eye.

This has not occurred.

Prior to this we know that one will come showing great signs and wonders, coming with great deceivableness and with many like him. God will send the world strong delusion, so strong that if it were possible even the elect should be deceived.

This hidden one will reveal himself and speak and do many great and mighty and powerful things, showing people that he is indeed "like God", claiming indeed that he is.

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

To dwell among men? To deceive them? To gather them together to their hidden design.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie...

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live."

... "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
